Osteopathy is a manual form of therapy that treats the entire individual.

The focus of Osteopathy is to find the cause of the pathology or pain, and to treat all the systems and theirs connections in the body. Osteopathy restores normal structure and movement, and facilitates the body to return to a state of health.

Osteopaths use palpation and manipulative techniques to restore balance to muscles, joints, nerves, connective tissue, and internal organs. Our Osteopaths use a gentle, non-invasive approach which is well suited to all age groups, from young infants to the elderly.  Osteopathy strives to restore balance in the body, so that the body can work efficiently and optimally.

Fertility

Osteopathy is a gentle and safe therapy that can help prepare the body for an optimal environment for conceiving.  There are many reasons why couples may experience difficulty conceiving .  If medical reasons have been excluded, functional disorders can compromise fecundation or the “nesting” of the embryo.  Osteopathy seeks to restore any structural or biomechanical imbalances that may cause dysfunction of the reproductive systems in both men and women.

Pregnancy and Post Pregnancy Treatment

During your pregnancy your body is going through changes.  Most of these changes are going to be experienced in a very positive manner, and you will glow during this time.  However, some of those changes may present as a bit of a challenge on your body.  Osteopathic treatments can help your body to accommodate the transformations it is going through.  Some mothers to be may experience low back pain, neck pain, morning sickness, heartburn, constipation, too frequent urination, sciatica, and circulatory issues.

Pediatrics

During his/her life in utero (inside the womb) and the birth process, your baby may experience difficulties that may affect his/her quality of life.  They may have experienced prolonged compressed positions in the pelvis, the cord around their neck, or distress during delivery as a result of forceps, venteuse, or caesarian procedures.

Your baby may present with:

  • Colic, constipation, Regurgitation, latching/feeding difficulties, mouth breathing
  • Torticollis, Plagiocephaly, limited neck mobility
  • Sleeping disorders, confusing day and night sleeping
  • Ear, throat, and  nose concerns such as otitis/ ear infections

By gentle and thorough assessment and manual treatment, osteopathy in most cases can help alleviate those symptoms.  We also take care of other developmental stages in your child’s life as they grow up.  Such as dental-orthodental procedures (braces, etc.), sports injuries, postural problems, and difficulties focusing or concentration at school.
